Supporting Macmillan Cancer Support
Our industrial disease department, at Oliver & Co Solicitors, specialises in asbestos disease claims and has been supporting the Macmillan Cancer Support for over 10 years. We have raised over £36,000 for Macmillan over the years, and to raise over £2,000 for the charity in just one night is a huge achievement which we are very proud of. Macmillan’s Corporate Fundraising Manager for Cheshire, Megan Kong said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as Oliver & Co Solicitors’ charity partner. Our work is almost entirely funded by public donations, so we are extremely grateful for every pound given to us. The money raised will go towards helping Macmillan support people affected by cancer at the time they need us most”. Our specialist asbestos disease solicitors have succeeded in recovering millions of pounds in compensation for asbestos disease sufferers and their families nationwide and abroad. Working with these clients on a daily basis gives our solicitors a real insight into the invaluable service the charity provides. Macmillan Cancer Support offers essential support and advice to people living with cancer, including asbestos-related cancers such as mesothelioma, as well as their families. The gig
James Cameron, asbestos disease solicitor and Associate Director played with his band, “The Eskimo Spies” for their longest set yet at over 3 hours. James said “I have been specialising in asbestos disease cases for over 12 years and have seen first-hand, the devastating effect asbestos-related cancers, like mesothelioma, can have not only on the sufferer, but also on their families as well. Music is a favourite past time of mine and by bringing people together at the gig, I hoped to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Macmillan which is charity close to my heart. I am delighted to say that we exceeded our target. I would like to thank everyone who contributed, to make such a success of the night.” The gig was a sell-out and with over 150 people attending, it was a fantastic night. During the evening, we also held a raffle to boost the charity donations. The prizes were all kindly donated by local businesses and included a two night holiday break, a two course lunch for two at the Chef’s Table in Chester, a Sunday lunch for four at the Bridge Inn, where the gig was held, and a relaxing massage at Brook Street’s Thainamoon. The whole event was such a success that we plan to make the charity show an annual event. to raise even more funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in the future. How can we help?
